Nine held for robbery

KOCHI: Nine persons were arrested by Ernakulam Town Central Police on different instances of attempted break-ins and robbery on Monday.

Latheef, 36, was arrestd while attempting to rob a wallet containing Rs. 5,000 from a bus passenger at Chittoor Road near Rajaji Junction. Shibu, 33, was arrested while attempting to rob a bus passenger of his mobile phone near Padma Junction. Aneesh, 25, was arrested while attempting to steal utensils from a house. Sankar, 27, and Suresh, 35, were arrested while attempting to steal cables from a godown. Subash, 29, and Rajesh, 30, were arrested while attempting to snatch the bag having money from a pedestrian at around 11 p.m. on Monday at Vivekananda Road near KSRTC bus stand. Shafeeq, 19, was arrested while attempting to rob a man sleeping at the KSRTC bus stand of his wallet.

Abdul Waheed, 37, was arrested while attempting to steal steel rods.
