Grand welcome to Queen's Baton Relay

That's the spirit!:DSDO P. Ramakrishna and others welcoming Queen's Baton Relay in Guntur on Wednesday.

Guntur: An enthusiastic bunch of sportspersons and children of Regional Sports Academy welcomed the Commonwealth Games Queen's Baton Relay at the `Y' junction at Pedakakani on NH-5 on Wednesday morning.

District Sports Development Officer P Ramakrishna, District Olympic Association treasurer G Seshaiah, coaches and secretaries of various associations accorded a warm welcome to the torch-bearers led by Wing Commander VK Singh. The rally then moved towards Prakasam and Nellore districts before reaching Tirupati.

The rally commenced on October 29 2009 at Buckingham Palace in London and passed through 70 countries before reaching India on June 25, 2010. It will traverse all states and finally reach Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on October 2 on the eve of Commonwealth Games.
