Girl rescued from sea, dies

CHENNAI: A girl who was recued from the sea by some volunteers after she was found struggling, died at the Government General Hospital on Monday.

Police said Deivanayagi (17) of Velachery had gone to the Marina Beach with some friends. She was playing along the shoreline when a strong tide pulled her in. After her friends raised an alarm, some volunteers rescued Deivanayagi, who was unconscious.

She was taken to the hospital where she died soon after admission.
