“No communication received on common entrance test”

Staff Reporter

PUDUCHERRY: The Director of the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) K.S.V.K Subba Rao on Wednesday told The Hindu that the institution has not received any communication from the Union Ministry of Health or the Medical Council of India regarding common entrance examinations for medical courses from next academic year.

Exemption

from CET

Responding to media reports suggesting that only three institutions, Armed Forces Medical College and All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi and Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, were exempted from the common entrance, he said that JIPMER was “on a par” with AIIMS and PGI Chandigarh in status as an autonomous institution and that clarification on the matter would be sought from the MCI.
