KAKINADA: Observing that information technology was playing a key role in the overall development of the nation, Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Kakinada (JNTU-K) Allam Appa Rao on Wednesday said that technological universities made computer education accessible to students from rural pockets. JNTU-K anniversary JNTU-K celebrated Tech Knowledge Day as part of the week-long celebrations of its second anniversary. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Appa Rao said that technology would help make better use of available manpower, as many developed countries required manpower with technical knowledge. He felt that imparting technical knowledge among youngsters would help them secure better jobs in India and abroad. Pioneering effort Former Vice-Chancellor of JNTU-K Rajagopal said that Andhra Pradesh pioneered in information technology in India. Director of DRDO, New Delhi, Srinivasa Rao, Director of Science and Technology of JNTU-K B. Prabhakara Rao and others were present on the occasion.
