Andhra Bank staff strike work

Seeking their due:Andhra Bank employees staging a dharna in front of the Kotagummam branch in Rajahmundry as part of their nation-wide strike on Thursday.

KAKINADA: In response to a call given by the All India Andhra Bank Officers' Federation and the All India Andhra Bank Award Employees' Union, employees of Andhra Bank in East Godavari district observed one day strike on Wednesday.

Employees of all the 102 branches of the bank participated in the strike, which reportedly resulted in loss of business to the tune of Rs. 60 crores.

The employees staged a demonstration in front of the bank's zonal office here, demanding solution to their long-pending problems.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Nearly 600 employees and officers of Andhra Bank in the Visakhapatnam Zone went on a day's strike.

They were protesting against what they called unfair HR practices of the management, altering the existing service conditions unilaterally and non-responsive and provocative attitude of the management and for realisation of their long-pending demands.

The officers and employees gathered in front of the bank's Zonal Office here and held a demonstration. One of the leaders S. Satyakiprasad said they might have to go on a three-day strike from September 28 if the management failed to respond.

AIBOC assistant general secretary M.S. Bhaskara Rao, secretary P.S. Malleswara Rao, joint secretary I. Kesava Rao and others spoke. Vice-president A. Koteswara Rao of the Visakhapatnam District Bank Employees' Coordination Committee expressed his solidarity. Convener of UFBU S.N. Sahu and others supported the agitation.
