Data uploading process for the launch is over Aim is to promote local knowledge Kozhikode: The data uploading process for launching a host of regional portals under the ‘Ente Gramam' (My Village) project of Akshaya is complete in Kozhikode district. Details of 24 grama panchayats will be available initially through the ‘Ente Gramam' portals after the formal launch of the project here within a couple of weeks. People's contribution Akshaya officials said each of the 24 panchayats will have community portals to provide detailed information on their administrative activities, history of the land and information on public services. The project will also give an opportunity for residents to submit articles regarding their village. The panchayats that are going to benefit from the scheme during the first phase include Atholi, Azhiyoor, Chathamangalam, Chekkiyad, Chorod, Edachery, Changaroth, Chelannur, Kodanchery, Kunnamangalam, Kuttiadi, Narikkuni, Omassery, Onchiyam, Puthupadi, Thalakkulathur, Thiruvambadi, Unnikulam, Valayam, Cheruvannur, Vanimel, Eramala, Villiappally and Mavoor. “The portals of the remaining panchayats in the district will be designed on completion of the ongoing data gathering process,” said P.V. Abdul Rajib, assistant district coordinator of Akshaya. The main objective of the project is to increase the availability of Malayalam content on the Internet and promote local knowledge, he added. Commendable effort The portals for the 24 panchayats were prepared under the supervision of a six-member content editors' team from the Akshaya. K. Ranjith, coordinator of the team, said panchayats like Thalakkulathur, Kuttiadi and Omassery offered commendable contributions for enriching the entire project. “We took two months to complete the designing process,” he added. Hareesh Mohan, project developer and State manager of ‘Ente Gramam' project, said the initiative was implemented in Kozhikode following a special request from the district administration. Pilot project in Kannur The pilot project, implemented in Kannur, was making significant contributions for spreading rural knowledge and information on the e-space, he added.
