Focus on UPA schemes

TIRUCHI: The achievements of the Union government were highlighted by speakers at a series of meetings held in Srirangam on Monday. The meetings were addressed by leaders of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee, who have taken up a campaign from Kanyakumari to Chennai to highlight the achievements of the Centre. Local Congressmen led by M.Saravanan, former president of Tiruchi District Congress Committee, gave a rousing reception to the team which included Thirugnanasambandam, Ramachandran and Senji Rajendran.

The speakers elaborated on the Right to Information Act, Mahatma Gandhi NREGS, Reservation for Women, education and food to all, self-sufficiency in power, waiving of loans of the farmers, total sanitation programme, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan scheme and self help group scheme.
