Visakhapatnam Cooperative Bank donates Rs. 1 lakh to public library

Visakhapatnam Cooperative Bank Chairman Manam Anjaneyulu handing over a cheque for Rs.1 lakh to Visakhapatnam Public Library Society president D.V. Subba Rao in the city on Wednesday.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Chairman of Visakhapatnam Cooperative Bank Manam Anjaneyulu underlined the need for studying the functioning of libraries in other countries so that the good things can be replicated here.

He handed over a cheque for Rs.1 lakh to president of the Visakhapatnam Public Library Society D.V. Subba Rao for improving the amenities at the library at a meeting held on Wednesday.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Anjaneyulu hoped that the amount would be utilised for improving the amenities at the library.

Mr. Subba Rao said that the reading halls at the library would be improved for the benefit of candidates appearing for competitive examinations.

Annual gesture

He appealed to donors to contribute their mite in improving the infrastructure at the library.

Librarian G. Krishna Reddy said that this was the fourth annual donation of the bank in a row to the library. He said that the amount would be added to the corpus fund of the library society.

Library society vice-presidents Kasim S. Mehdi and M. Varahalu Chetty, secretary V. Seetharamaiah and well-known Gandhian K.S. Sastry were present.
