Houses sanctioned for ineligible beneficiaries to be cancelled Need for transparency in selection of beneficiaries stressed VISAKHAPATNAM: District Collector J. Syamala Rao directed the officials to accord top priority to the construction of houses sanctioned under the third phase of ‘Indiramma' scheme. Presiding over a meeting of officials and engineers of the Housing Corporation, he reviewed the progress of the construction work taken up under the three phases, spillover works, sanction of bridge loans by banks, allocation of pattas to eligible beneficiaries who were identified during the Integrated Survey and cancellation of the names of ineligible beneficiaries. Mr. Syamala Rao directed the officials to cancel the D-pattas and houses sanctioned to ineligible beneficiaries only after issuing notices to them. He asked Additional Joint Collector S. Satyanarayana to take appropriate measures to solve the problems in the disbursal of loans to beneficiaries. He directed the executive engineer concerned to conduct a field-level survey on the slow pace of construction works in G. Madugula and Anantagiri mandals and submit a report to him. He sought early completion of the levelling of the land sanctioned for housing at Narsipatnam and Joginaidupalem. He said that there should be transparency in the selection of beneficiaries under the scheme. The Collector directed the Tehsildars of S. Rayavaram, Pendurthy and other mandals to expedite the issue of LPCs for lands sanctioned under the Indiramma scheme. He said that no houses should be constructed in the Green Belt area. He advised the officials concerned to get the court stay on land-grabbing cases vacated by filing petitions. Bridge loans He said that special efforts should be made to open bank accounts and to achieve at least 70 per cent of the housing target. He asked the officials to bring to his notice if there were any problems in the sanction of bridge loans. He sought preparation of the list of ‘ineligible' beneficiaries in Bhimili, Sankaram, Nerellavalasa, Satyanarayanapuram and Billalavalasa layouts. Once the names of ineligible beneficiaries were deleted, eligible ones could be accommodated in their place. Housing Corporation Project Director L. Ravi Kumar, executive engineers -- T.V. Seshayya, Ravi Kumar and S.V. Ramana Murthy -- were among those who attended.
