Report to be submitted within stipulated time frame of December 31: Duggal

Consultation process of the committee to continue till September 15

KADAPA: Justice B.N. Srikrishna, Chairman of the Committee for Consultations on the Situation in Andhra Pradesh, told newsmen here on Wednesday that the committee would make recommendations based on certain principles and guidelines, but satisfying political parties or any group was not their concern.

Mr. Srikrishna, member-secretary V.K. Duggal and members Ranbir Singh and Ravinder Kaur interacted with the people in Machupalle in Siddhavatam mandal and Upparapalle in Chennur mandal in Kadapa district on Wednesday.

Thereupon it deliberated in-camera with senior officials of the district followed by leaders of political parties, associations and groups in Kadapa Zilla Parishad meeting hall here.

The committee members left Kadapa for Tadipatri in Anantapur district on Wednesday afternoon.

The committee would submit its report within the stipulated time frame of December 31 and its recommendations would take care of the aspirations of every citizen, Mr. Duggal told a news conference.

The committee would hold the consultation process up to September 15 and subsequently become engrossed in finalising its report for submission to the Union Government before the year end, Mr. Duggal said.

The committee received a total of 1.20 lakh representations and about 100 groups and 1,000 prominent persons put forth their opinions before it, he said. The panel adopted a three-pronged strategy – consultative process, interaction with political parties and eliciting feedback of the people at the grassroot level. It interacted with various social and economic groups and heard their opinions.

Last leg of tour

The panel's tour of Rayalaseema region would end with Anantapur district. It had visited seven districts in coastal Andhra and later will tour the Telangana districts over the next two to three weeks before concluding the consultative process, Mr. Duggal said.

Advisor and Special Secretary of Ministry of Home Affairs Shashi Prakash, Senior Consultant Ravi Dingra and IAS officer Anil Kumar accompanied the committee. District Collector Shashi Bhushan Kumar, Superintendent of Police Tarun Joshi, DRDA project director G. Gopal and other officials participated in the deliberations.
