Brahma front runner for Election Commissioner

NEW DELHI: Retired IAS officer of the 1975 batch from Andhra Pradesh cadre Harishankar Brahma (60) seems to be the front runner for the post of Election Commissioner, which fell vacant after the elevation of S.Y. Quraishi as the Chief Election Commissioner last month.

Mr. Brahma, belonging to Gosaigaon of Kokrajhar district of Assam, retired as Union Power Secretary on April 30.

Earlier, he served as the Special Secretary in the National Disaster Management Authority.
