DAVANGERE: Deputy Commissioner Vastrad has confirmed the death of a woman and her daughter owing to A(H1N1) in Honnali taluk a few days ago. He also disclosed that nine persons have tested positive for A(H1N1) in Davangere district. Mr. Vastrad told presspersons here on Thursday that blood samples of 19 persons having symptoms of A(H1N1) were sent to the National Institute of Virology. Of them, nine came positive for A(H1N1). He said that special medical attention had been given to all the nine suffering from the disease. He said that all civic bodies and gram panchayats in the district had been issued instructions to maintain cleanliness in the villages and towns to stop the spread of the disease. Civic bodies and gram panchayats had been instructed to educate people about the disease and a couple of squads of the Health Department had been formed to make a tour of the villages. Steps were also being taken to ensure that the disease was not transmitted from people already with it, he said. As many as 45 cases of dengue have been reported in the district in the last two months. Blood samples of 45 persons were sent for examination, he added. He said that 33 lakh fish were let into tanks, check-dams, ponds as a step to stop the spread of A(HIN1), dengue, chikungunya and malaria.
