Plea to fill teacher posts

Correspondent

VIZIANAGARAM: B. Mohana Reddy and G. Srinivasulu Naidu, MLCs have demanded that the teachers who were transferred over a year ago after counselling be relieved immediately as they had been facing hardship.

At a press conference here on Thursday, Mr. Mohan Reddy said 25,000 teachers were transferred but they were not relieved for want of replacements.

The government had notified 52,000 teacher posts in 2008 by creating 12,000 additional posts without going into the number of vacancies. And now these must be filled without delay along with vacancies of 14 DEOs and 680 MEOs.

Stating that the enrolment of number of students improved considerably after mid-day meal scheme was introduced, Mr. Mohan Reddy said the scheme must be strengthened in Agency area schools by constructing kitchen sheds.
