HYDERABAD: Congress MLA from Kurnool T. G. Venkatesh has said that the visit of Justice Srikrishna Committee to the Sunkesula project accompanied by TRS members without knowledge of local people may have been the trigger for the damage caused to the Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme (RDS) in Mahabubnagar district. Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Mr. Venkatesh, who is the Rayalaseema Hakkula Vedika Chairman also said that the Committee's remarks on Sunkesula were unwarranted and that it did not even inform people's representatives in Rayalaseema about its visit. He, however, said that as people and groups belonging to all the regions submitted their reports and opinions to the Srikrishna Committee, they should now remain peaceful and wait for the Committee's report. Referring to reports that Congress MPs from Telangana were not in favour of the dinner meeting hosted by AICC general secretary Veerappa Moily in New Delhi, he said they should attend the meeting as it would give them opportunity to raise development issues of Telangana. If they abstained, they would be in position to represent Telangana people's interests.
