Special Correspondent

Coimbatore: Every one can contribute for the conservation of nature in little ways. Reducing the consumption of water, paper and electricity would bring down the wastage, damage and pollution thus nature stands protected, V. Rajarajan, Postmaster General, Western Region said on Wednesday.

He was speaking after releasing a special cover on an endangered primate Western Hoolock Gibbon (Hoolock Hoolock) of North Eastern India organised as part of the 25 {+t} {+h} anniversary of Zoo Outreach Organisation (ZOO) at the PSGR Krishnammal College. Reducing consumption of any resources would help protect nature.

Sanjay Molur, Executive Director of ZOO, said that India ranks in the list of first ten countries with rich bio-diversity and has four bio-diversity hotspots.

The country has diverse land spots accommodating a rich variety of flora and fauna. India has 36 species and sub-species of primates of Asia. Sally R. Walker, Founder/Director of ZOO, said that the organisation chose Gibbon for the postal cover because it was the only ape in India and was threatened specie today. The special cover was released by Mr. Rajarajan and was received by G. Rangaswamy, Managing Trustee of PSG & Sons Charities Trust.

Secretary of GRG PSGR Krishnammal Institutions Nandini Rangasamy, Principal Yashoda took part.
