It will be given at a subsidised rate to ration cardholders at Karaikal PUDUCHERRY: Chief of the Puducherry unit of the Pradesh Congress Committee A.V. Subramanian on Friday told reporters that the territorial administration would provide additional 10 kg of rice at a subsidised rate to ration cardholders at Karaikal. The government had agreed to the party' request following public demand for additional 10 kg of rice by residents, he said, adding that the rice would be given to cardholders living below the poverty line at Rs. 11 a kg from Saturday. The government had also decided to buy “quality” rice from the open market for distribution through public distribution outlets, Mr. Subramanian said. So far the government was getting rice from the Food Corporation of India, he added.
