VISAKHAPATNAM: More importance must be given to industries and their establishment in the district since they create many jobs, Collector J. Syamala Rao said at a meeting with the officials of Industries Department and other wings and representatives of industry here on Friday. Steps are on to stop IT units from being shifted to other States. “We are planning road shows in Hyderabad and other cities to promote IT industries here and to make sure that the present IT units stay here. A meeting with the UK Trade Mission is being planned on August 24”, Mr. Syamala Rao said. Responding to the points raised by industries' representatives regarding water and power problems the Collector instructed the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation to solve the water problem and the AP EPDCL to establish a control room in the industrial areas to solve the power supply problem. The Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority was asked to develop a park in the area where some industries were located in Kancharapalem in two months. VUDA was also asked to hand over maintenance in the IT SEZ to the SEZ authorities once the works were completed. General Manager of DIC V.R. Vijayaraghava Nayak, Zonal Manage of APIIC Madhusudhana Rao and president of IALA P. Premchand participated.
