Naxals kill two, burn police camp

Staff Reporter

MUMBAI: Suspected naxals set fire to a police camp and murdered two villagers from Medpalli, in Bhamragad taluka of the naxal-dominated Gadchiroli district.

The incident took place at 1.30 a.m. on Saturday, Vijay Chapne, Deputy Superintendent of Police, told TheHindu over telephone.

Mr. Chapne said naxals entered Medpalli and slit the throat of Parshuram Alam (48) and Bajirao Malavi (55) alleging that they were police informers.

“On the way, they spotted the police camp which is near the village.

“The camp had been abandoned owing to flood scare and no police personnel were present when it was burnt,” he said.
