NEW DELHI: Om Prakash Singh, reigning Asian champion in shot put, came third with a throw of 19.64 metres in the Thumer Werfertag throwers meet at Thum, Erzgebirge, Germany, on Friday.

It was the third best throw for the 23-year-old Indian athlete for the season, behind his Patiala inter-State effort (19.99m) and the Bangalore Asian Grand Prix result (19.80).

Joint fourth

Om Prakash is currently joint fourth with Englishman Carl Myerscough in the season's lists among Commonwealth athletes with his 19.99m.

Ralf Bartels of Germany, bronze winner at the last World championships, won the gold with 21.00m while another German, David Storl, took the silver at 20.49m.

Om Prakash is scheduled to compete at Lille Metropole Games at Lille,
