With the best T20 teams playing in CL it is going to be tough, writes David Hussey
Last time it was O' Ola' O' Ola' O' Ola' ho' ho' ho ho' and this time it is Enrique doing the Air Tel Champions League's T20 song. I am sure it will rock as much as O' Ola did. I remember last time how just hours before a game in Delhi we all sang the O'la O'la song for an ESPN shoot. It was hilarious — some of the boys looked as stunned as a batsman facing Brett Lee on a green track while for others it was creaming that half-volley through the covers. As for my stint, the information is classified! I am sure just like the songs cricket too will be equally enthralling. It is the early part of the season in South Africa so I have a feeling that wickets may just help the fast bowlers but once the batsmen settle down the conditions won't be bad for batting either. And with this great competition allowing the best T20 teams playing against each other, I am sure you guys are in for some real fun. I think playing in South Africa will be an advantage for the Victorian team as the wickets are generally a lot like what you get in Australia. I hope it turns out that way! Overall, I just hope that South Africans turn out in numbers to support the tournament like they did the soccer World Cup. Sporting nation It is a great sporting nation and the fans love to get stuck behind their teams. And after getting a taste of the IPL in its second season, the South African fans know it will be high-quality cricket right through the tournament. Besides the venue, the other big change this time around is the change in the format under which the Air Tel Champions League T20 will be played. Having the teams divided into two groups means that the teams will have to be at the top of their game throughout. And Bushrangers — very name stands for honesty, integrity and team — are up for the challenge. We don't have much choice, do we? I think we are in the tougher of the two groups but to win the competition, you eventually have to play the best. I am hoping the other teams in our group fear us too.
