BJP urges Telangana Congress leaders to reject Deputy Chief Minister's post

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Senior BJP leader Ch.Vidyasagar Rao has urged Congress leaders from Telangana to reject the Deputy Chief Minister's post in case it was offered to anyone of them for the larger cause of formation of separate State.

At a press conference here on Sunday, he said following the statement of Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram on December 9 last year that the process for Telangana had started, TDP president N.Chandrababu Naidu, Praja Rajyam leader K. Chiranjeevi and other leaders from coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema had betrayed the people.

Conspiracy

Again a similar conspiracy was being hatched through allurement, he said and appealed to Congress leaders from the region to be vigilant. Referring to the reported suggestion of Ministers from Telangana for officially celebrating September 17 as Hyderabad Liberation Day, he wanted the government to make an announcement in this regard. Both Maharashtra and Karnataka governments were celebrating the day officially in the districts which were part of the erstwhile Hyderabad State.

He said the agitation for creation of Telangana must be intensified and September 17 should mark the beginning of the proposed non-cooperation movement. He urged the people in Telangana, including students and government employees to celebrate Hyderabad Liberation Day on September 17 by hoisting the national flag and also declare ‘self-rule' on that day.
