Jagadeesh triumphs
HUBLI: A.K. Jagadeesh of Kerala emerged the champion in the first DDCA-all-India Open FIDE rating chess tournament, organised by Dharwad District Chess Association here.
A. Balkishan of Bangalore, the sole leader after the ninth round, lost his match against Rupankar Nath of West Bengal in the final round after 35 moves. On the second board, Jagadeesh split the point with Y.G. Vijendra of Mysore after 13 moves.
Though, after the final round, Jagadeesh, Nath Rupankar, Ramakrishna Perumalla and Balkishan Augustin shared the top spot with eight points each, Jageesh was adjudged the winner on the basis of a better tie-break score.
