HYDERABAD: Journalists not being allowed to carry their mobile phones to certain meetings of the VVIPs for security reasons is a common knowledge. But Health Minister D. Nagender is suggesting that Ministers should be prevented from carrying their mobiles too, at least in meetings of the State Cabinet. Mr. Nagender has a good reason behind seeking such a provision – the leakage of discussions in the Cabinet even before the meeting formally concludes. “It is surprising to see television news channels running scrolls on the deliberations when the meeting is actually in progress,” he said. Reacting to queries on ‘Odarpu Yatra' of Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, he said the Cabinet had, indeed, discussed the issue, but wondered how the media came to know about the content within no time. In a lighter vein, Mr. Nagender said he would request Chief Minister K. Rosaiah to ensure forthwith that Ministers did not come with their mobile phones into the chambers where the Cabinet meeting would be held.
