HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday extended full support to Rashtriya Lok Dal president Ajit Singh's plan to “gherao” Parliament on August 26 demanding changes in the policy of land acquisition from farmers.

Addressing a brief media conference after they met for an hour, Mr. Singh said he came to Hyderabad to invite Mr. Naidu to participate in the protest to focus on the plight of the farmers whose land was acquired indiscriminately.

“Governments everywhere have become land grabbers. It is the same everywhere and I had been following the latest controversy in Andhra Pradesh too. But the problem in Uttar Pradesh is worst as reflected by the incident in Agra,” he added.

Announcing his support, Mr. Naidu said the Central and State governments have become ‘modern zamindars' acquiring land wherever they want. So much so from holding large extents of fertile agriculture lands farmers were being pushed into penury. They do not even have land to build their own house.
