Navayuga to re-build temple ‘rajagopuram'

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Navayuga Company Limited, which executed the Krishnapatnam project, has offered to re-build the ‘rajagopuram' of Srikalahasti temple in Chittoor district and bear the entire cost which is estimated to be around Rs. 30 crore.

The offer was made by the CMD C. Visveswara Rao to Chief Minister K. Rosaiah at a meeting here on Monday. Endowments Minister G. Venkat Reddy told reporters later that the company had offered to undertake the constriction under the Endowments Department's supervision and complete it by December 2012. The Minister said the designs for the new ‘rajagopuram' would be prepared in consultation with expert engineers and agama sastra pandits. Like the original ‘rajagopuram', the new ‘gopuram', would be seven-storeys high and have all the original embellishments.
