Ritul's selection hailed

VIJAYAWADA: Krishna District Archery Association and District Sports Authority on Monday congratulated archer Ritul Chatterjee, a trainee at the city-based Volga Archery Academy, for his selection to the Indian compound team for the Commonwealth Games to be held in Delhi during October.

Big win for Kadapa

Kadapa scored an emphatic 10-wicket victory over Anantapur in the three-day ACA South Zone U-19 inter-district tournament for Thunga Giridhar Reddy Memorial Trophy at RDT ‘B' ground at Anantapur on Monday.

In the other match, Chittoor, chasing 283 for victory, was 104 for eight with Janardhan bagging four for 23 for Nellore.

The scores: Kadapa 261 in 88.5 overs (Ahmed Basha 93, Naren Reddy 51, N.S. Vineel Kumar five for 86, K. Imthiyaz three for 45) & 16 for no loss in 3.2 overs bt Anantapur 86 & 190 in 52.1 overs (B. Thouheed Alam 33 n.o., M. Saleem Baig five for 47).

Nellore 224 & 146 in 48.4 overs (Anil Kumar 31) vs. Chittoor 88 in 31.5 overs (Janardhan four for 22, Manoj Kumar three for 18) & 104 for eight in 36 overs (Janardhan four for 23).

Jyothi Sai sparkles

K. Jyothi Sai Krishna's 91 helped Krishna post 217 against West Godavari in the three-day ACA Central Zone U-22 inter-district tournament for Md. Nazibullah Khan Memorial Trophy on Monday.

The scores: At Mangalagiri: West Godavari 110 & 41 for three in 9.1 overs vs. Krishna 217 in 58.1 overs (N. Jyothi Sai Krishna 91, Ch. Chandrasekhara Naidu five for 62, Ch. Sneha Kishore three for 63).

At Ongole: Prakasam 181 vs. Guntur 310 for nine in 81.1 overs (S.S. Bharat 65, Sk. M. Basha 56, J. Siva Koteswara Rao 47, A. Ashok 35, Patan Basha 35, Ch. Jawahar four for 78) .

Prasad Reddy to lead

L.N. Prasad Reddy will lead the Anantapur senior team in the ACA South Zone senior inter-district tournament for Venkatagiri Cup to be held at Kadapa from September 3 to 21, according to ADCA secretary Sagar Chowdary. .

The team: K.S. Shahabuddin, N. Sardar, M. Shashavali, G. Sanjeeva Reddy, D.B. Prashanth Kumar, D. David Raj, A. Philomen Raj, G. Rama Mohan, Shoiab Mohammad Khan, U. Shivaraj, M. Prudhivi Charan, C. Munavar, K. Naresh Kumar.

NCA tourney

Senior players of National Cricket Academy will play three one-day and three Twenty20 practice matches from August 24 at the Rural Development Trust ground in Anantapur.

Inter-college volleyball

Osmania University inter-college volleyball tournament for men will be held at V.V. College, Hyderabad, on August 25 and 26.

Participating teams must report to Suresh Reddy, organizing secretary, at the venue by 9.30 a.m.
