SINGAPORE: Durgesh Kumar Pal won the second silver medal for India in the athletics competitions of the Youth Olympic Games here on Monday. Durgesh's medal, in the 400m hurdles, follows the silver won by discus thrower Arjun Kumar. The Uttar Pradesh youngster clocked a National youth record of 50.81s while coming second behind Cuban Lara Norge Sotomayor (50.69s) in the hurdles final. Kenyan William Mutunga came third in 51.23. Durgesh had set a National record of 51.57s in the National youth championships in Coimbatore in April this year. He had come second in the National junior championships at Warangal last year with a time of 54.58s. Seventeen-year-old Durgesh is a product of the Boys Sports Company of the Army, Pune. He moved from middle distance to 400 metres before shifting to the 400m hurdles.
