Promoting brotherhood:A woman tying rakhi to Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa at a function in Bangalore on Tuesday. BANGALORE: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has asked intellectuals and statesmen to come forward and guide him in providing good governance. “I am making honest efforts in bringing changes in the administration. If there are mistakes, you should not hesitate to box my ears and point out mistakes,” Mr. Yeddyurappa said. He was speaking at a function organised by the Raksha Bhandan Samiti at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan on Tuesday. Mr. Yeddyurappa said people need to be aware of anti-national forces, who were moving with us and creating tension. Learned people should not keep quiet, but raise their voices against such forces. Introspection The former Chief Justice of India M.N. Venkatachalaiah said Raksha Bandan was a day when people need to introspect and remind themselves about the fundamental duty towards society. “It is a symbol of internal integrity. We need to look as to how honest we are to the words we speak. Irreverence to values and kind of suspicion to good works is haunting society,” he said. The former Bihar Governor Rama Jois and Executive Director of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Mattur Krishnamurthy spoke. Mr. Yeddyurappa released two books titled “Gandhi Upanishad”, which is a collection of Mr. Krishnamurthy's articles on Mahatma Gandhi's works that appeared in a Kannada daily.
