Water panels mooted at gram panchayat level
Special Correspondent
Bangalore: The Government is proposing to constitute water management committees in all gram panchayats to ensure regular supply of potable water and also to enhance revenue collection.
Addressing presspersons here on Monday, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Jagadish Shettar said several villages were facing drinking water scarcity during summer owing to poor management and multiple works executed by gram panchayats. Formation of water management committees by stakeholders would ensure better management of water supply and collection of revenue at the local level, he said.
