Kemparaju will contest from Kadur

BANGALORE: Former Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh's son Ajay Singh and Chikmagalur Zilla Panchayat president K.M. Kemparaju are the Congress's candidates from the Gulbarga South and Kadur Assembly constituencies respectively for the bypolls on September 13.
This was announced by KPCC president R.V. Deshpande at a press conference on Tuesday.
The bypolls were necessitated following the death of Chandrashekar Patil Revoor (Gulbarga South) of the Bharatiya Janata Party and K.M. Krishnamurthy (Kadur) of the Congress.
The candidates will file their nominations on Wednesday.
To State BJP president K.S. Eshwarappa's statement that the party would make the anti-cattle slaughter Bill an election issue, Mr. Deshpande, while describing it as irresponsible, said it might trigger communal tension and create confusion in the minds of the people.
On the death of 127 inmates of the beggars' home here, the KPCC president came down on the Government's move to send back home those from other States.
Advice
Mr. Deshpande asked Mr. Eshwarappa to mind his language while referring to leaders of the Opposition and said the people would teach the BJP a lesson in the next elections.
The KPCC president demanded that the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, disclose the name of the Congress leader who allegedly asked the Reddy brothers to join the Congress.
