Kasaragod: The police have arrested three members of a gang allegedly involved in a number of burglaries in temples in the district in recent months. They were identified as Shyju, 25, Jamal, 37, and Samir, 38. Three sovereigns of gold ornaments were recovered from them. A police team arrested Jamal and Samir following the interrogation of Shyju who was picked up from Melparamba on Tuesday, Deputy Superintendent of Police K Vikraman told a press conference here on Wednesday. One at large One more person involved in the burglaries is at large. Those arrested were produced in court at Kanhangad and remanded in judicial custody till September 9, Mr. Vikraman said. The gang members confessed to their involvement in the recent burglaries at the Durga Parameshwari temple at Eriyal, the Komradi Devasthanam at Nellikkunnu and the Shastha temple at Pookunnam in which an idol of Durga Parameshwari, gold ornaments and cash were burgled.
