Relief for unaided professional colleges
Legal Correspondent
‘They can be permitted to collect fee at beginning of the academic year'
HYDERABAD: A Division Bench of the High Court comprising Justice Goda Raghuram and Justice R. Kantha Rao on Wednesday made it clear that professional unaided colleges can be permitted to collect the fee at the beginning of academic year and the government can reimburse the students. The government is free to make payments at the time of admissions.
The Bench was passing these interim orders in two writ petitions filed by consortia of unaided non-minority professional colleges offering engineering MBA , MCA and Pharmacy courses. The complaint of the petitioners is that the government is not paying the fee for the SC ,ST, BC and EBC students at the beginning of academic year.
The government promises to reimburse later and they are finding it difficult to run the institutions at the expected standards. After hearing the arguments, the Bench made it clear that the Government either has to pay the money for the fee reimbursement scheme in the beginning of academic year or permit the colleges to collect fee from students at admission stage.
