‘Stop female foeticide'

Staff Correspondent

Karwar: Principal Civil Judge of Uttara Kannada district B. Narayanappa has said that sex ratio imbalance in India is a matter of concern.

Prenatal sex determination tests and female foeticide, which are on the rise, are illegal. People involved in them are punishable according to law. Efforts should be made to bring about a balance in sex ration by discouraging female foeticide, he said at a seminar on healthcare issues at the district hospital in Karwar.

Dr. Sharad Nayak expressed concern over the spread of dengue and chikungunya. District surgeon Rayannanavar presided over the programme.
