Sweets unit sealed in Nellai

FATE SEALED: Tirunelveli Municipal Corporation officials sealing the sweets manufacturing unit at Tirunelveli Junction on Thursday.

TIRUNELVELI: Corporation officials on Thursday sealed a sweet manufacturing unit at Tirunelveli Junction as the snacks were prepared in a highly unsanitary condition.

After Corporation Commissioner N. Subbaian received several complaints that sweets were being prepared in unhygienic conditions in the godown of one Madasamy at Tirunelveli Junction, a team of corporation officials led by Assistant City Health Officer Shanthi and Food Inspector A.R. Sankaralingam raided it on Thursday.

As the corporation officials found that the charges mentioned in the complaints were true, they sealed the sweet manufacturing unit.

Meanwhile, Corporation officials seized 15 motors fitted in the domestic drinking water connection.
