Kandula Obula Reddy Gundlakamma Reservoir project in Prakasam district brimming with water on Thursday. — ONGOLE: The authorities stepped up release of flood waters from the Kandula Obula Reddy Gundlakamma Reservoir by 5000 cusecs to 19,250 cusecs on Thursday in the wake of incessant rains in the catchment areas in the last couple of days. The irrigation authorities lifted all the gates to let out the entire inflow of 19,250 cusecs. The level was maintained at 21.72 metres to ensure the safety of about 100 people living close to the banks in the upper reaches, Project Executive Engineer-II V Koteswara Rao told the Hindu. “The district administration is making efforts to move them to safer places by Friday, unable to keep up the storage to 22.70 metres'', he added.
