No impact of Maoists in Vizag zone, says IG

Staff Reporter

Battle Obstacle Assault Course inaugurated

KAKINADA: Inspector-General of Police (East Zone) Vinay Kumar Singh on Friday said the impact of Maoists was not there in Visakhapatnam zone. Addressing the media after inaugurating the Battle Obstacle Assault Course (BOAC) constructed on the premises of the office of the Superintendent of Police here, Mr. Singh said though movements of Maoists were spotted in a few areas, the impact was minimal in the zone. He said recruitment of 15,000 men into the police department would strengthen the force further.

The BOSC would provide refresher training for policemen in general and those, who engaged in anti-Naxal squad in particular. Mr. Singh said providing basic training to the men was not going to be a problem henceforth, as the training would be provided at the local level in the BOSC. “The men need not go outstations to get the training,” he said. Training modules like ‘W' wall, ladder, rope and gate wall were provided locally and plans were afoot to add some more training activities in the near future. “Funds are not at all a problem for us,” he said.

SP G. Srinivas, ASP (Rampachodavaram) Vikram Jeet Duggal and other officials were present.
