Hand over khatas, court tells tahsildar

Staff Reporter

Order brings relief to members of the Vyalikaval House Building Society

BANGALORE: Scores of members of the Vyalikaval House Building Society, Bangalore, heaved a sigh of relief when the Karnataka High Court on Thursday directed the tahsildar of Bangalore North to give kathas for them. Justice Rammohan Reddy passed the order on petitions by Basheer Ahmed, Anjanamma and others.

The petitioners said even though the Supreme Court had allowed their petition against the State, the tahsildar had not taken any steps to give them khata. They said they had been allotted land by the society in Nagawara and Govuindapalya. However, the tahsaldar had refused to register khata in their names.

Justice Reddy asked the State to comply with the Supreme Court direction and also ensure that the kathas were hand over to the allottees expeditiously.
