ENCOUNTER IN FORESTS:Maoist-backed People's Committee against Police Atrocities leader Umakanta Mahato, prime suspect in the Jnaneswari train sabotage case, was killed in a jungle hideout near Lalgarh, West Bengal, on Friday. Mahato, who was carrying a reward of Rs. 1 lakh on his head announced by the CBI, was found dead after a four-hour-long encounter between the security forces and his squad during the early hours.
