ISO certificate for AU recommended

VISAKHAPATNAM: Lead auditors of TUV-SUD South Asia Limited, after a three-day inspection of Andhra University campus, recommended the prestigious ISO 9001:2008 certificate to the university.

Andhra University received the ISO 9001:2000 certification in 2006, the first general university in the country to receive the honour. For three days from August 25, Andhra University was audited by the TUV-SUD team after it sought extension of ISO certification. At the conclusion of the audit, the Lead Auditors -- N.V. Kameswara Rao, Mohan Khandante and Prasanth Deshmukh -- met Vice-Chancellor B. Satyanarayana on Friday and informed him that ISO 9001:2008 certificate to the university was recommended, Principal of AU College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, who is Coordinator of IQAC/ISO, S. Ganapathy, said in a press release.

The Lead Auditors inspected all the academic departments of all campus colleges, the Academic Development Cell, examination wing, the university library and examined the design and curriculum of courses, syllabus, regulations and eligibility norms for under-graduate, post-graduate and research programmes, quality education through admissions, teaching, conduct of examinations, evaluation, publication of results and award of degrees, infrastructure facilities, grant of affiliation to the programmes offered by the colleges, monitoring of the colleges and other aspects.
