Four eateries closed down

GHMC teams to prosecute five more for violating rules

HYDERABAD: GHMC's Health & Sanitation wing closed down four eating establishments and decided to prosecute five more for violating established rules on Thursday.

Inspection

During inspections conducted in the areas of Yousufguda, Krishnanagar and environs by special teams consisting of medical officers, food inspectors and others - Food Planet, Yousufguda; Sri Sai Durga Hotel, Tiffins & Meals, Yousufguda; Bangalore Iyengar's Bakery, Sri Krishna Nagar and Purna Tiffin Centre, Yousufguda, were ordered shut.

Altogether 24 eating establishments were inspected by the three special teams and the five joints to be prosecuted are: Vandana Bar & Restaurant, Krishna Nagar crossroads; Spicy, Indiranagar crossroads; Sri Sai Sangam Tea & Snacks, Yousufguda Checkpost; Hyderabad Restaurant, Yousufguda; Sri Sri Tiffins,Meals,Chat, near Krishna Nagar ‘T' Junction.

Additional Commissioner (Health & Sanitation) S. Aleem Basha said that notices were also issued to eight other eating joints to rectify the defects found in their respective premises.  He also urged hotel owners to maintain kitchens and premises in a hygienic condition.  Wholesome drinking water and freshly prepared food should be served to the customers. 

Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor Jaffer Hussain requested the Commissioner and Chief Engineer to form special teams to keep a watch on the overflowing tanks, lakes and rivulets lest there be any breach. He wanted an action plan be kept ready to shift people living in the vulnerable areas and identify community halls and schools for the purpose, in case of any emergency.
