BELLARY: One more person has died in Bellary district on account of heavy rainfall, taking the toll to five. On Friday night, Gangamma (74) died when her house collapsed due to heavy rain. Vidyasagar (26), her grandson, sustained injuries and has been admitted to hospital for treatment. He is said to be out of danger. Minister for Revenue G. Karunakara Reddy, who visited the spot, handed over a cheque of Rs. 1 lakh to her family. Helpline The Bellary City Corporation has opened a helpline to enable citizens to register complaints of water stagnation and overflowing drains. People can call 272356 to register their complaints, said Thimmappa, Municipal Commissioner. Mr. Thimmappa told The Hindu that the work of cleaning open drains, pumping out water from low-lying areas, removal of garbage in drains was on since Tuesday.
