Corporation pact with Matsyafed

Special Correspondent

Thiruvananthapuram: The City Corporation is entering into an agreement with the Kerala State Cooperative Federation for Fisheries Development (Matsyafed) to implement a series of projects for development of basic infrastructure and livelihood support of families in the coastal wards.

Earlier this month, the Corporation Council approved a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding to be signed between the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) in the local body, Matsyafed and the Corporation. The PIU is the nodal agency for projects taken up under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission and the Asian Development Bank-assisted Kerala Sustainable Urban Development Project. Matsyafed had earlier submitted a project to the PIU on livelihood promotion targeting the coastal communities living in acute poverty owing to underemployment.
