BANGALORE: The two-day 100th Defence Pension Adalat of the Controller of Defence Accounts, Chennai, will begin in Bangalore from Monday. “The centurion adalat has received 1,529 representations of which 831 cases have already been sorted out. The total financial value generated as a result of the intervention of the adalat is over Rs. 2 crore. The number of pensioners who have financially benefitted is 323,” said Nand Kishore, Controller General of Defence Accounts, Delhi, who announced the dates here on Saturday. Mr. Kishore said that of the 22 lakh defence pensioners in the country, nearly two lakh were still waiting for pension, and that in the adalat, senior officers sit face to face with pensioners for on-the-spot redressal. On the occasion, citations would be given to pensioners who have benefitted from the adalat. A special cover by the Postal Department as well as a pensioner's guide would be released on the day. At the Bangalore Adalat pensioners whose cases have not been settled properly can present their complaints for redressal. Defence pensioners or family pensioners who have not applied before can also attend the adalat with necessary documents. The adalat will be held at the Multi Purpose Hall, Rajendra Singhji Institute campus, and will be formally inaugurated at 3 p.m. on Monday by Minister of State for Defence M.M. Pallam Raju. The sessions will be held between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Monday and between 9.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. on Tuesday.
