Satosker, Mustafa take lead

MYSORE: Amul Satosker of Goa and M.K. Mustafa of Tamil Nadu won the second leg as the overall lead changed hands at the end of day two of the Nestor Heritage Run 2010 rally here on Saturday.

Victory in the second leg took Satosker and Mustafa to the head of the overall classification with a penalty of 1:03s, two seconds ahead of overnight leader Amitrajit Ghosh and Somdeb Chanda.

The second leg of the rally began at Chikmagalur early on Saturday and concluded at Mysore, winding its way through slushy terrain in the coffee plantations in the hills.

“I never expected to lead the rally,” said Satosker, driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Cedia. “We are happy where we are and will work hard to maintain the same position on Sunday.”

The final day will see participants doing a loop around the city, including a climb up and down the Chamundi hills.

Provisional results: 1. Amul Satosker & M.K. Mustafa (Goa/TN) 1:03s; 2. Amitrajit Ghosh & Somdeb Chanda (WB) 1:05; 3. G.S. Joshy & G.M. Shrikanth (Kar) 1:49 . — Sports Reporter
