Special Correspondent

PANAJI: The mortal remains of Konkani litterateur and freedom fighter Ravindra R. Kelekar were consigned to flames with State honours at his native village of Priol in south Goa on Saturday. The pyre was lit by his son Girish.

Earlier, Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, his Cabinet colleagues, and Leader of the Opposition and former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar paid homage to the Jnanpith Award winner writer, who died on Friday, aged 85, after brief illness. The body was kept at his house since Friday evening where mourners paid their last respect to the departed personality.
