Selection of lecturers stayed

Allahabad: The Allahabad High Court has stayed the process of selection of nearly 300 college lecturers in 21 districts of Uttar Pradesh for violation of its judgment by the State Government.

A Division Bench comprising Justice S. K. Singh and Justice D. K. Arora passed the order on August 26 while hearing writ petitions by Archana Mishra and others. It fixed September 13 as the next date of hearing.

The petitioners had contended that nearly 300 vacancies had been advertised by the U. P. Higher Education Service Commission. However, all the vacant posts had been “clubbed as a single unit” and not put out subject-wise and college-wise. This was a violation of a Division Bench order passed in 2009.
