A still from Gudu Gudu Gunjam Film: Gudu Gudu Gunjam Cast: Rajendraprasad, Sitara, Kasturi, Pardhu, Chahat Direction: Veeru ‘Gudu Gudu Gunjam' is a complicated love story which leaves the audience in a state of stupor. The director either forgot the basics of screenplay or is yet to learn the nuances of film making. With wafer-thin script he pins labels on the characters and puts them into various positions to make something appear like a story. It is a jigsaw puzzle from word go, not just for the viewers but for the director too, who fails to solve it eventually. Even his music is bad. He copies some popular songs and makes parodies out of them. However, Brahmanandam's entry with one such parody was hilarious and all credit to the actor. Goapalam (RajendraPrasad) is a lawyer married to Ramseeta (Sitara). They have a son who goes about betting and doesn't hesitate kissing girls just for a bet! But he gets pinned down in one such case where the mother (Telangana Shakuntala) of the girl bays for his blood. It's reason enough for the director to shift the scene to Bangkok for showcasing skimpily dressed girls. The hero falls in love with a girl there and parents are summoned to meet the elders. The girl has a spinster aunt who has weird desire and that is to marry the boy's father! This is material enough to guess what follows. The film has an impressive star cast with Rajendra Prasad, Brahmanandam, Krishna Bhagwan, Suman, Sitara, Kasturi, Venu Madhav, MS and Telangana Shakuntala. Pardhu (brother of Navdeep) makes his debut. The film has Gopalam (Rajendra Prasad) casually telling his assistant that he would like to make a film and the next day there is an amateur script writer (Krishnabhagvan) at his doorstep, forcing himself into Gopalam's life and penning scenes that actually happen at the former's house. Ramseeta (Sitara) is impressed and hires him and also pays Rs. 10,000 per episode. Has Veeru too met somebody who was magnanimous enough to produce a film for him? G.MANJULA KUMAR
