VISAKHAPATNAM: ‘Suhita,' a society for creative alternatives and to debate and discuss problems in society and to suggest solutions, was launched at Gayatri Vidya Parishad at MVP Colony here on Sunday in the presence of prominent citizens of the ity like Gandhian K.S. Sastry and M Varahalu Chetty. K. Ravi, professor of the Department of Politics and Public Administration of Andhra University, is president of ‘Suhita' and Chemburu Venkat Rao is secretary. The society intends to generate debate on important issues and organise roundtables and seminars; to sensitize civil society on critical social issues and public policy; to motivate young minds towards critical and creative endeavours and thinking; to felicitate non-mainstream social, cultural and scientific achievers; to publish monographs containing expert views on policy alternatives and periodical bulletins and a Policy Studies journal; to work towards social harmony and peace; to organise special training for youth on creativity; to organise action programmes on environmental protection and to sensitize students on public hygiene and motivate public through opinion polls and work for child rights, school reforms, among other things.
