Joji funeral mass today

VIJAYAWADA: All catholic bishops of the State will participate in the funeral mass of Rt.Rev.Marampudi Joji, Archbishop of Hyderabad, to begin at 3 p.m. here on Monday. The funeral mass will be held in the grounds of Bishop Grassi High School in Gunadala and his mortal remains will be buried in a special burial ground near the Gunadala Mary Matha Church.

The Bishop of Vijayawada and head of the Catholic diocese Mallavarapu Prakash will deliver the sermon at the funeral mass.

The mortal remains of the Archbishop were brought here at his own request to be placed in a special tomb built by him during renovation of the burial ground. Archbishop Joji worked to popular the Gunadala Shrine when he worked as the executive director the Social Service Centre, the social work wing of the Catholic diocese. There was a tremendous increase in the number of pilgrims visiting the shrine during the Mary Matha Festival that takes places every February while he was the director.
